October 23 - 24, 2008
The 14th Forum for Institutional Investors, entitled "Protecting Shareholder Value: The Credit Crisis and Beyond," was held on October 23-24 at the historic New York Palace Hotel in New York City.
With an audience of over 100 pension fund representatives, the 2008 Forum featured prominent and highly-regarded speakers and panelists, who discussed and analyzed key issues affecting the investment industry in light of the credit crisis and the changing political landscape. Key topics included the impact of the credit crisis on the international financial community, best practices for protecting portfolios, how the regulatory and legal landscapes affecting investment holdings are changing, and the increasing influence of investor activism on corporate culture.
Our prominent international faculty was comprised of representatives from the political, legal, academic, media and business sectors, including Paul Sarbanes, former U.S. Senator and Co-Author of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act; Harvey Pitt, CEO of Kalorama Partners and former SEC Chairman; and Professor Harvey Goldschmid, Dwight Professor of Law at Columbia University and former SEC Commissioner, among many others. Additionally, media personalities and political commentators, James Carville & Mary Matalin, treated Forum guests to a colorful analysis of the 2008 presidential election.
Sponsored by BLB&G, the Forum for Institutional Investors is the premier annual conference in the field, providing a unique learning and networking opportunity by coupling educational day sessions with exciting evening events showcasing New York City.
