Sean Coffey Featured on CNBC's The Call Discussing the Future of the SEC

07/09/08

BLB&G Partner Sean Coffey participated as a guest speaker on CNBC's The Call in its segment "The Future of the SEC," during which he discussed the implications of a recent push by the Federal Reserve to expand its oversight of investment banks - a role traditionally filled by the SEC.  According to Mr. Coffey, the proposal expanding the Fed's oversight of the financial markets threatens to add another layer of bureaucracy for investors, as well as dilute the effectiveness of the SEC's primary mission of protecting investors.

Mr. Coffey has litigated some of the most notable frauds in history, including In re WorldCom, Inc. Securities Litigation, in which he helped obtain a record $6.15 billion in recoveries for defrauded investors.  He currently serves as court-appointed Lead Counsel representing investors in the Omnicom, HealthSouth, Merck, Refco, Delphi, and Converium litigations, and copyright holders in the Premier League v. YouTube class action.
