Law360 has profiled BLB&G as a 2024 Class Action Group of the Year, recognizing the firm for securing outstanding results in class action litigation involving companies such as Tesla, Columbia Pipeline, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, NVIDIA, and Facebook.
The article specifically highlights the firm’s successful trial and appellate work in 2024. In Tesla, BLB&G took on Elon Musk and Tesla at the Delaware Court of Chancery, successfully convincing the court that Tesla’s board breached its fiduciary duties to shareholders by approving Musk’s compensation package. In yet another Delaware case, the firm secured a $350 million trial verdict in the class action challenging Columbia Pipeline’s $13 billion merger with TransCanada (later renamed TC Energy).
We try every case the same way...[W]e think about the best strategy to represent our clients and the class's interests, and we implement that strategy the best way we can.
— Jeroen van Kwawegen, Partner & Executive Committee Member
The firm’s impact extended to the U.S. Supreme Court, where BLB&G successfully secured the dismissals of appeals by tech powerhouses Facebook and NVIDIA. BLB&G also played a lead role in securing an $812 million jury verdict for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac shareholders against the Federal Housing Finance Agency.
Those were total team efforts, with firmwide support...Throughout all of that, the firm as a whole provided very institutional support that enabled these outcomes to occur.
— John Rizio-Hamilton, Partner & Co-Head of BLB&G’s Securities Litigation Department
