Lawdragon, a national legal periodical, has named BLB&G Partner Max Berger and former partner Sean Coffey among its list of the "500 Leading Lawyers in America."Mr. Berger, described by the publication as a "securities-fraud sensation," was recognized for his role in securing landmark settlements worth billions of dollars for shareholders in the securities fraud actions WorldCom, Cendant and Nortel Networks. Mr. Coffey was lauded as a "Navy vet [who] repeatedly hits his mark against Arthur Andersen and other securities litigation defendants." The now defunct accounting firm, Arthur Andersen, was a defendant in In re WorldCom, Inc. Securities Litigation, a case in which Mr. Coffey and Mr. Berger served as co-lead counsel, yielding an unprecedented recovery of over $6.15 billion for the investor class. Mr. Berger and Mr. Coffey, dubbed a "dynamic duo," have propelled BLB&G into the "ranks of the top class-action firms."
