BLB&G Senior Counsel Catherine van Kampen has been appointed a Fellow at the American Bar Foundation (ABF). The Fellows of the ABF comprise a global honorary society of attorneys, judges, law faculty, and legal scholars whose public and private careers have demonstrated outstanding dedication to the highest principles of the legal profession and to the welfare of their communities. The ABF seeks to advance the understanding and improvement of law through research projects on the issues facing the legal system in the United States and the world.
Since attending law school, Catherine has been deeply committed to public and pro bono service to underserved communities. Through her volunteer work, she has been a champion of social change and justice, particularly for immigrant and refugee women and children. As a member of the New York City Bar Association’s United Nations Committee and African Affairs Committee, Catherine spearheaded the highly successful and widely-praised International Law Conference on the Status of Women, featuring the Under Secretary and Special Representative to the Secretary General of the United Nations for the Prevention of Violence Against Women, and other prominent, progressive women’s advocates from the New York Legal Community.
